Do Now:  On the paper given and without using your notes, draw an annotated diagram showing Elodia before and after adding salt water.  Please show where water concentration is high and low, any relevant organelles, and arrows showing the direction of the movement of water.

Activity 1:  Read “Antibiotic Resistance – An Alarming Trend” on Pg 66 of “From Bacterial to Plants.”  Then answer questions 1 & 2.

Activity 2:  Take notes on the April 4th SCMP (South China Morning Post) superbug article.  (discuss).  Make sure you include the date and author in your notes.

Week of March 28 - April 1

Update!! - The due date for your Science Explorer notes is now Thursday, April 7th.

Thursday, March 31st
Today we have a variety of activities to complete:
  1. Revise your moon crater lab write up.  Read the comments and make the necessary changes.  Look at the assessment sheet to see your current grade.  You have the chance to improve your grade by one depending on the quality of your revisions.
  2. Download the Science Explorer notes assessment sheet (to the right) and read through it.  The due date is next Monday, April 4th.  Make sure that your notes and assessment questions are complete.
  3. If you have finished 1 and 2, you are to look at the 29 infectious diseases on the bulletin board and categorize them.  You must put them into at least 3 separate groups and explain what characteristics or traits you used to separate them.

Monday, March 28th
We made jello models of plant cells today.  A job well done!  No Homework

Week of February 21 - 25

Thursday, February 24th
Today we worked on analyzing and processing the data collected during our moon crater experiment.  For those of you that weren't here, you need to make sure to calculate the average crater diameter as well as the average ray length for each drop height.  NOTE:  You should have a total of nine ray lengths to average for each drop height (you measured three ray lengths each time you dropped your marble).

Once you have done that, you need to create a data table that directly compares the average crater diameter and average ray length before and after manipulating your variable.

Your completed lab write up - conclusion included - is due Thursday, March 3rd.  Please let me know well in advance of the due date if you have any questions or need any assistance.

Week of February 7 - 11

Thursday, February 10th
We begin designing a lab to test how impact craters are formed on the moon.
